FG delegation arrives in Saudi Arabia ahead of Dantata’s funeral
A delegation from the Federal Government of Nigeria has arrived in Saudi Arabia to receive the remains of the esteemed elder statesman and business mogul, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, ahead of his burial in the holy city of Madinah.
The late Dantata, aged 94, passed away in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Saturday.
The high-level delegation, which departed Nigeria late on Sunday, arrived in Madinah in the early hours of Monday. It is led by the Minister of Defence and former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar. Other members of the team include the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN); the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris; and the Minister of State for Housing Development, Honourable Yusuf Abdullahi Ata.
Also accompanying the delegation are prominent Islamic clerics, including Dr Bashir Aliyu Umar, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, and Khalifa Abdullahi Muhammad, the Imam of Dantata Mosque in Abuja.
The Nigerian Consulate-General in Jeddah, headed by Ambassador Muazzam Ibrahim Nayaya, has also been actively involved in the funeral arrangements, which are scheduled to take place later today, Monday.
