Tinubu heads to Brazil for 2025 BRICS summit after state visit to Saint Lucia
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has left Saint Lucia for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to take part in the 2025 BRICS Summit.
The president departed the Caribbean country following a week-long state visit marked by a series of high-profile meetings and engagements aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s relationship with Saint Lucia.
At the Hewanorra International Airport, Tinubu was seen off by Saint Lucian Prime Minister Philip Pierre. During his visit, the Nigerian leader met separately with Governor General Cyril Errol Charles and Prime Minister Pierre, where discussions focused on deepening cooperation between the two nations.
Addressing a joint session of the Saint Lucian Senate and House of Assembly at Sandals Grande, President Tinubu emphasized the significance of fostering strong regional partnerships.
He pointed out that the visit underscored Nigeria’s commitment to collaborating with Saint Lucia and other members of the Organisation of the Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).
With his arrival in Brazil, Tinubu will join leaders from Egypt, Ethiopia, and South Africa as the African representatives at the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
