BREAKING: Tinubu receives Buhari’s remains in Katsina

The body of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived in the country from London, where he passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 82 following a brief illness.
In line with Islamic burial rites, Buhari will be laid to rest later today in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
His remains were flown into the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Airport in Katsina and received with solemn dignity by President Bola Tinubu, Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State, top government functionaries, and close members of the late president’s family.
Also present were dignitaries and sympathisers who gathered to pay their final respects.
President Tinubu had earlier directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to lead the Federal Government delegation to accompany the late president’s remains back to Nigeria.
The body had departed the United Kingdom earlier in the day.
The late Buhari, a two-time Nigerian leader and one of the nation’s most prominent political figures, will be buried later today in his hometown of Daura, in line with Islamic funeral rites.
