The first step to finding a true and lasting love match is knowing yourself.

If you do not understand who you are beyond your physical appearance—your fundamental nature and personality—you will struggle to identify a partner who truly complements you.

Anyone seeking or trusting God for a life partner must recognise that what their eyes, emotions, and desires are drawn to may not necessarily be the best fit for a lifelong journey. More often than not, God guides those who sincerely seek Him towards the partner they truly need, rather than the one they may impulsively want. Life is far more profound than fleeting emotions and surface-level attraction.

For instance, if you are a man who recognises himself as ‘special’—designed by God to be an alpha male, a natural leader with a personality and ego that exceed the average—then you must understand that marrying an alpha woman could turn your home into a battleground. A household where both partners are dominant and unyielding often breeds unnecessary tension, pride-fuelled conflicts, and endless power struggles. This is what I call an Alpha Love situation.

Two captains cannot successfully steer the same ship at the same time. Be honest and self-aware. Not every attractive, accomplished, or confident man or woman is meant for you. Not every ‘hot’ person can be your life partner—because, in truth, forever is a long time!

For a relationship to thrive, both partners must be in harmony, willing to listen, and able to submit to one another, as God—the author of marriage—has advised. Life is already filled with external challenges, so the last thing you need is a partner who adds unnecessary internal strife to your home.

If you identify as an alpha male, and respect is as essential to you as oxygen, then choose a woman who genuinely respects you—not just when you are at your best, but even in moments of weakness or folly. Likewise, if you are an alpha woman, be intentional about selecting a man who is exceptionally humble, patient, and divinely suited to complement your strong personality. This way, you can both fulfil your purpose in life while enjoying a peaceful, inspiring, and fulfilling marriage.

Take time to study yourself—deeply and sincerely. Understand your non-negotiables and deal-breakers. This self-awareness will guide you towards a partner who aligns with your personality and values, someone with whom you can navigate life harmoniously, without constant conflicts and frustrations.
