The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State has suspended a member of the House of Representatives, Ibrahim Kamfani Auyo, alongside six other party officials over alleged anti-party activities.

The suspension was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Bashir Kundu, in Dutse.

Kamfani, who represents Auyo/Hadejia/Kafin Hausa Federal Constituency, was suspended following a controversy sparked by a viral video showing him receiving a large crowd of supporters in Auyo after losing the APC ticket for the 2027 general election.

According to the party, supporters seen in the video were allegedly heard chanting slogans against the party leadership and threatening to work against the APC in future elections.

Kundu said the suspension, which took effect from May 31, 2026, was based on allegations of misconduct and violations of party rules.

“The party took this step based on allegations of betrayal of the party, causing internal conflicts, and dividing members,” he stated.

Other party officials affected by the suspension include the State Deputy Women Leader, Aisha Adamu Auyo, popularly known as Kande; the Auyo Ward Women Leader, Yargabi Babannan Auyo; Auyo Ward Chairman, Musa Idris Zabarau; Deputy APC Chairman of Auyo Local Government Area, Ibrahim Ayama; LGA Financial Secretary, Saje Hadiyau; and Deputy Ward Chairman, Sani Abdullahi Hadiyau.

The party said the decision was taken under the leadership of the Jigawa APC Chairman, Ahmad Garba, as part of efforts to maintain discipline and unity within its ranks.

“The suspension is with immediate effect. This action is part of our commitment to upholding party rules and safeguarding the unity of the party in the state,” Kundu added.

Efforts to obtain a reaction from Kamfani were unsuccessful as calls to his phone line were not answered at the time of filing this report.
