APC’s Joseph Ikpea wins Edo Central Senatorial seat
The All Progressives Congress has clinched a sweeping victory in the Edo Central Senatorial by-election.
Honourable Dr. Joseph Ikpea of the APC was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission after polling 105,129 votes. His closest rival, Joe Okojie of the Peoples Democratic Party, trailed with 15,146 votes.
The breakdown shows APC’s dominance across the five local governments. In Esan Central, the APC scored 20,781 votes against PDP’s 2,065. In Esan North-East, APC had 20,366 to PDP’s 4,566. Esan South-East gave APC 14,873 against PDP’s 4,036.
The party’s strongest performance came in Esan West with 39,490 votes, compared to PDP’s 2,270. In Igueben, APC posted 9,619 votes while PDP recorded 2,209.
With this landslide, Joseph Ikpea is now Senator-elect for Edo Central, cementing the APC’s grip on Esanland.
According to the Returning Officer, Professor Kingsley, the process was duly certified.
