BREAKING: Senate confirms new Service Chiefs

The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Lieutenant-General Olufemi Oluyede as Nigeria’s new Chief of Defence Staff following a four-hour screening session on Wednesday.

Also confirmed were Major-General Waidi Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral Idi Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff.

The newly confirmed Service Chiefs will be formally promoted and decorated with their new ranks by President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
