Eric Chelle praised the Super Eagles’ 2-0 victory over Rwanda in Kigali during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Victor Osimhen scored both goals, showcasing his skill with a precise finish from Ademola Lookman’s free-kick and a clever chip after intercepting the ball at midfield.
The win marked a strong start under Chelle’s leadership and moved Nigeria to third place in Group C, boosting their qualification hopes as they prepare to face Zimbabwe next.
Victor Osimhen was the standout player, scoring both goals for the three-time African champions. This victory marked the Super Eagles’ first win in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying series, propelling them to fourth place in Group C.
Speaking at the post-match news conference, Chelle acknowledged the difficulty of the match, highlighting Rwanda’s strong team. He expressed pride in his players’ performance and emphasized their tactical approach during the game.
The 47-year-old coach also called for further improvements and stated that the team would intensify their preparations for the upcoming match against Zimbabwe on Tuesday in Uyo.
