David Mark, Aregbesola emerges ADC Chairman, Secretary
Former Senate President David Mark and ex-Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, have been appointed as the interim National Chairman and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), respectively.
Aregbesola confirmed his acceptance of the role in a letter addressed to party leaders and stakeholders on Tuesday night. In the letter, the former Osun State governor expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him and pledged his commitment to advancing the party’s ideals.
“It is with deep humility, a profound sense of duty, and unwavering hope for our people, nation, race, and party that I accept the appointment as the National Secretary of our great party,” he wrote.
Aregbesola went on to emphasise that political parties should not be mere avenues for personal ambition or opportunism but institutions driven by values, ideals, and the collective aspirations of the people.
He stressed that a true political party must serve as a platform for mobilising, organising, educating, and empowering citizens, insisting that it must remain accountable to those it seeks to serve.
“A political party, in its truest form, is a living institution built on values, guided by ideals, and accountable to the people it seeks to serve,” he stated.
Aregbesola called on party members to uphold these principles, ensuring that the ADC becomes a force for good, a platform for genuine democratic engagement, and a party rooted in the interest of the people.
