Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that his greatest fear is not knowing the right time to step away from music despite his remarkable success.

Speaking during a recent video broadcast, the award-winning singer reflected on the emotional burden of fame and the struggles faced by celebrities whose popularity declines over time.

Davido said that if given the opportunity, he would establish a therapy centre dedicated to helping former celebrities and public figures cope with life after fame.

“If there is one thing I could build, I would build a therapy centre for people who were popular and very successful. It is crazy to be on top of the world and the next moment you are not,” he said.

The singer also pointed to the experiences of athletes, citing football icon Cristiano Ronaldo as an example of how even the most accomplished individuals continue to face criticism.

“Even in soccer, you win the World Cup, Champions League and other trophies and people still don’t think it is enough. Look at my good friend Ronaldo—after everything he’s done for football, they still laughed at him for exiting the World Cup,” Davido added.

He admitted that preserving the legacy he has built remains a major concern.

“That is my greatest fear. I have worked so hard for me to come and spoil it with something. I pray to God every day to show me the right time to pack it up,” he said.

Davido noted that staying at the top can be just as difficult as reaching the pinnacle of success, adding that the expectations placed on public figures never truly disappear.

His comments have further highlighted conversations around the mental health challenges faced by entertainers and professional athletes as they navigate fame and life beyond the spotlight.
