D’Tigers to face Tunisia, Rwanda, Guinea in FIBA World Cup Qualifiers
Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, have been drawn into Group C for the initial stage of the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup African qualifiers. They are set to compete against Rwanda, Guinea, and Tunisia.
Having been seeded in pot three ahead of the official draw, D’Tigers must finish among the top three teams in their group to progress to the next round. Ultimately, five African teams will secure qualification for the World Cup in Qatar.
In other groups, Group A features Cameroon, South Sudan, Cape Verde, and Libya, while Group B comprises Senegal, DR Congo, Madagascar, and Ivory Coast. Group D will see Mali, Angola, Uganda, and Egypt compete.
The 16 participating countries will compete across five qualifying windows, commencing in November 2025. Teams advancing to the second round will retain their results from the initial phase.
Upon completion of the qualifiers, the top two teams from each second-round group, along with the best overall third-placed team, will secure a berth at the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Qatar.
