EFCC Operatives arrest Benue Governor’s aide over alleged sextortion, cyberbullying

Operatives of the Makurdi Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested Mkor Aondona, the Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Benue State on Documentation, Research, and Planning, over allegations of sextortion and cyberbullying.
The arrest took place on Friday, June 20, 2025, in Makurdi, following serious accusations from several female students who claimed that the governor’s aide engaged in unethical and criminal acts, including sexual exploitation, blackmail, and cyber harassment.
According to the petitioners, Aondona allegedly targeted slim and attractive girls under the guise of offering them ushering jobs but made sexual favours a condition for selection. The girls reportedly fell victim to his advances, only to later discover that he had secretly recorded their sexual encounters without their consent.
The victims further alleged that Aondona continuously threatened to leak the recorded videos if they refused to keep up the sexual relationship with him. He was also accused of sending these explicit videos through various messaging platforms, with some already believed to have circulated.
Confirming the development, the EFCC stated that the suspect is currently in custody and would soon be arraigned in court to face charges relating to the allegations.
