Plateau Hospital denies tension over alleged health workers abduction plot
Plateau State Specialist Hospital, Jos, has dismissed reports suggesting rising tension within the facility following claims of an alleged terrorist plot to abduct doctors and other health workers.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the hospital management described the reports circulating on social media as misleading and urged the public to disregard them.
“The attention of the management of Plateau State Specialist Hospital, Jos, has been drawn to a publication circulating on social media captioned: ‘Tension in Plateau Government Hospital Over Terrorists’ Plot to Abduct Doctors, Other Workers,’” the statement read.
Signed by the Public Relations Officer, Talatu Achan Angi, the management explained that the memo referenced in the report was an internal communication meant strictly for routine security briefing.
According to the statement, the circular was issued to sensitize staff on the need for vigilance due to general security concerns, not to create panic.
“It was intended to encourage vigilance and caution in the course of their daily duties, especially in light of prevailing security concerns,” it said.
The hospital authorities stressed that there is no unrest within the facility, adding that normal operations are ongoing.
“There is no form of tension within the hospital. Staff and patients are carrying out their normal activities, and all clinical services are proceeding without disruption,” the statement added.
The management further reassured residents that the hospital remains safe and fully operational, urging the public not to be misled by sensational reports capable of causing unnecessary fear.
“We urge the public to disregard any misleading information capable of destabilising the relative peace currently enjoyed in the state,” it said.
It reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to providing uninterrupted healthcare services to patients across Plateau State and beyond.
