Grace Ike celebrates present, past NAWOJ Presidents over honours for championing Women in Journalism

Congratulations have poured in for the past and present Presidents of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) as they were honoured with a distinguished award recognising their invaluable role in promoting the place of women in the field of journalism.
Comrade Grace Ike, Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, extended her heartfelt congratulations to the women, commending their leadership, dedication, and tireless commitment to the growth and visibility of women in the media industry.
She described the award as a testament to their relentless pursuit of excellence and advocacy for gender equality within the profession.
According to her, this honour not only acknowledges their years of outstanding service but also inspires countless other women to take their rightful place in journalism and leadership. She urged them to continue breaking new ground, championing greater female representation, and mentoring the next generation of female journalists.
Comrade Ike also took a moment to applaud the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) led by Comrade Alhassan Yahaya and the first female Deputy National President of the NUJ, Dr. Abimbola Oyetunde, for making the NUJ @ 70 celebration a memorable event.
She further congratulated the award recipients, who include Dr. Brenda Akpan, Chief Moji Makanjuola, RT Evelyn Onyilo, Pst Kande Daniel, Hajia Fatima Abdulkareem, Hon. Asabe Baba Nahaya, Yeye Ifeyinwa Omowole, Chief Ladi Bala, and Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim Bura, describing them as shining examples of resilience, passion, and genuine commitment to the progress of women in media leadership.
As the celebration continues, she expressed optimism that their achievements will pave the way for more women to tell impactful stories and take bold steps in shaping the future of journalism in Nigeria.
