JUST-IN: Sylva absent as FG arraigns six suspects over alleged coup plot
The Federal Government on Wednesday arraigned six suspects before the Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations of plotting a coup aimed at overthrowing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The defendants were brought before the court on a 13-count charge bordering on alleged terrorism and related offences linked to what authorities described as a plan to destabilise the Nigerian state.
During the proceedings, all six suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges read against them.
The Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, led the prosecution at the arraignment, which was held before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The court subsequently ordered that the defendants be remanded in custody pending further hearing of the case, with proceedings adjourned for trial.
The case adds to ongoing national security concerns and comes amid heightened scrutiny of alleged attempts to undermine the country’s democratic order.
