Kano Govt vows amicable resolution to Emirate dispute
The Kano State Government has assured residents that lingering tensions surrounding the Emirate dispute will soon be resolved through dialogue and mutual understanding.
The assurance was given on Thursday by Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, during a briefing with newsmen in Kano.
Waiya said the state government had put in place concrete measures to restore lasting peace and stability, stressing that the administration’s approach is anchored on respect for the rule of law, traditional institutions, and the collective interests of the people.
He also commented on the recent defection of Governor Abba Yusuf to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a development that would benefit Kano residents by attracting more federal support and fostering greater infrastructure, health, education, and social welfare initiatives.
On the political stance of the deputy governor, who has not joined the APC, Waiya emphasised that the decision remained a personal choice and that the state government remains committed to unity, transparency, and inclusive governance.
“The defection opens more doors for Kano. With stronger collaboration with the Federal Government, we expect more support in critical sectors. Our focus remains on governance, unity, and development,” he said.
Waiya urged residents to remain calm and supportive as efforts continue to resolve outstanding issues and advance the state’s development agenda.
