Lagos Govt dismisses viral claims of kidnapping surge on Gbagada Expressway

The Lagos State Government has dismissed online rumours claiming there is a rise in kidnapping incidents along the Gbagada Expressway.

The false information, circulated through a flyer purportedly issued by the state government, warned commuters about alleged abductions in the area.

The message also claimed that criminals were using the ‘one chance’ method and operating in commercial vehicles to target unsuspecting residents.

Reacting on his official X handle on Friday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Gboyega Akosile, debunked the claims.

He wrote: “Good morning Lagos, please beware of this fake news in circulation again! We’ve addressed it in the past, but purveyors of fakery are not tired of recycling this rubbish. Kindly ignore it. Thank you.”
