UPDATED: Tinubu approves Three Ambassadorial postings, withdraws Turkey listing
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of three ambassador-designates, out of the 68 nominees confirmed by the Senate in December.
The approval was announced on Thursday in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, Ambassador Ayodele Oke has been posted as Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to France, while Colonel Lateef Are has been designated as ambassador to the United States of America.
President Tinubu also approved the posting of Ambassador Amin Dalhatu, a former ambassador to South Korea, as High Commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom.
The Presidency clarified that no ambassador has been posted to Turkey yet, noting that an earlier reference to a posting to the country was due to a naming mix-up and is currently undergoing review.
In a memo to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the President directed the ministry to formally notify the governments of the three countries of the appointments, in line with established diplomatic procedures.
