NNPC slashes Petrol price to N875 in Lagos, N900 in Abuja

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has lowered the price of petrol at its retail outlets, now selling at N875 per litre in Lagos and N900 in Abuja.

This adjustment comes just two days after the national oil firm raised petrol prices to N915 per litre in Lagos and N955 in Abuja.

Observations on Wednesday revealed that NNPC has slashed the price by N40 per litre in both cities.

In Lagos, the Fadeyi branch of NNPC on Western Avenue recorded the new price of N875 per litre. Similarly, in Abuja, petrol was seen selling for N900 per litre at the NNPC outlet in the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Kubwa.

Despite the reduction by NNPC, other outlets operated by Dangote refinery partners like Mobil and AP maintained their price at N915 per litre.

Meanwhile, data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on July 31 shows that the average retail price of petrol rose by 38.32 percent year-on-year to N1,037.66 in June 2025, up from N750.17 in June 2024.

According to the report, Jigawa, Ondo, and Lagos residents paid the highest average retail prices for petrol in June. On the other hand, Yobe, Kogi, and Imo states recorded the lowest average prices, at N950.60, N986.67, and N987.86 per litre, respectively.
