President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Labour Party’s presidential candidate Peter Obi, and former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi were among top Nigerian dignitaries present on Sunday at St. Peter’s Square, Vatican City, for the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV.

In a notable moment, President Tinubu and Peter Obi exchanged pleasantries despite their political rivalry, drawing attention from onlookers.

The ceremony, a solemn mass at St. Peter’s Basilica, marked the official commencement of Pope Leo XIV’s papacy as the 267th Bishop of Rome and spiritual head of over 1.3 billion Catholics across the globe.
