The Akwa Ibom State Police Command, in collaboration with the military and local vigilante groups, has arrested two suspects over the attempted vandalism of an electricity transformer in Ikot Idim village, Ika Local Government Area.
The incident occurred around 2:00am on Sunday, August 24, 2025, following intelligence received a day earlier about a criminal gang targeting government and private facilities in the state.

Items recovered at the scene include two gas cylinders, a towing chain, two iron cutters, an oxygen nozzle, two long iron pipes, and two mobile phones.
According to police, both suspects have confessed to the crime, while efforts are underway to track down the fleeing gang members.
