President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of three new heads of federal agencies, in a move aimed at strengthening key institutions and enhancing service delivery across critical sectors.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Mr Tinubu appointed Bello Bawa Bwari from Niger State as the Director-General of the National Biosafety Management Agency. His appointment, which takes effect from 18 September 2025, is for an initial four-year term in line with Section 5 of the National Biosafety Management Agency Act, 2015.
In a related development, the President also named Hon. Barr. Aminu Junaidu of Zamfara State as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Investment and Security Tribunal. His tenure is for five years, commencing on 18 September 2025.
Additionally, Olayiwola Nurudeen Awakan was appointed as the Director-General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) for an initial term of four years. His appointment took effect from 2 September 2025.
The Presidency noted that the appointments are a reflection of Mr Tinubu’s resolve to reposition critical agencies for greater impact in national development. The new appointees have been charged with bringing their professional expertise to bear in advancing the mandates of their respective organisations.
“These appointments underscore President Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening key sectors and institutions in Nigeria,” the statement signed by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations at the OSGF, read in part.
The President urged the new leaders to work diligently in the interest of the country and contribute meaningfully to the progress of their agencies for the overall good of the nation.
