Star Forward Mbappé to miss Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey clash
Kylian Mbappé has been left out of Real Madrid’s squad for tonight’s Copa del Rey semifinal first leg at Real Sociedad after undergoing a tooth extraction earlier this week.
Despite coach Carlo Ancelotti’s assurance in his pre-match news conference that Mbappé, who has been in exceptional form with 14 goals so far in 2025, would be available for the cup tie, the star forward was notably absent when Madrid announced their matchday squad on Wednesday.
Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and midfielder Federico Valverde were also left out.
Mbappé has largely avoided injury since joining Madrid, with the exception of a broken nose suffered during last summer’s Euro 2024.
This season, he has scored 17 goals in 23 LaLiga appearances and netted seven goals in 10 Champions League outings, including a hat trick against Manchester City last week.
