Tinubu brokers peace as Fubara, Wike, Lawmakers meet at Aso Rock (Photos)
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday hosted a crucial closed-door meeting with key political figures from Rivers State in an effort to resolve the prolonged crisis rocking the state’s leadership.
In attendance were Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, and other assembly members.
This meeting, held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, marked the first time Governor Fubara was seen alongside President Tinubu since the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers on March 18. At that time, the president had suspended the governor, his deputy Mrs. Ngozi Odu, and the state House of Assembly, citing growing political instability and security threats.
Thursday’s gathering appeared to signal a major breakthrough in the long-running conflict, with photographs later released showing President Tinubu, Governor Fubara, and Minister Wike in good spirits, smiling and exchanging pleasantries.
According to sources within the presidency, the meeting served as a decisive move toward reconciling the warring factions, which had left governance in the oil-rich state at a standstill for months.

The discussions reportedly addressed the grievances that led to the crisis and explored peaceful resolutions for the collective interest of Rivers people.
