Tinubu names Brigadier General Kunle Nafiu as new NYSC Director-General
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Brigadier General Kunle Nafiu as the new Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), replacing Brigadier General Yushau Dogara Ahmed.
The appointment, which takes effect immediately, has not yet been officially confirmed by the Presidency or NYSC management, though sources within the organization have corroborated the news.
Brigadier General Nafiu, an experienced artillery officer from Osun State, is a graduate of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College and the U.S. Army War College.
He previously served as Chief of Staff to current and former Chiefs of Army Staff, Lt. General Olufemi Oluyede and the late Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja. He also held a role as Directing Staff at the Army War College in Nigeria.
His appointment comes at a critical time for the NYSC, which has faced challenges such as security risks and debates over its relevance.
Nafiu’s leadership is expected to bring strategic reforms to the scheme, which has been central to fostering national unity since its inception in 1973
