Tinubu returns to Abuja after Eid holiday in Lagos
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja after spending the Eid-el-Kabir holiday in Lagos State, where he participated in a series of political, governmental and national engagements.
The President arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at about 5:17 p.m. on Tuesday and was received by top government officials, including FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu.
According to a statement issued by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu hosted several high-profile delegations during the holiday period, including Vice President Kashim Shettima and members of the National Assembly led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio as part of the traditional Sallah homage.
The President also received members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, led by AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as well as APC stakeholders from Oyo State and party candidates from Lagos State.
While in Lagos, Tinubu attended the International Fleet Review at Eko Atlantic City Waterfront to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy.
During the event, he commissioned three naval vessels — NNS Oloibiri, NNS Mambila and NNS Gurara — aimed at boosting the Navy’s operational capabilities.
The President also held discussions with Romuald Wadagni focused on strengthening bilateral relations, regional cooperation and economic partnerships between Nigeria and the neighbouring West African nation.
The presidency further noted that before the Eid celebrations, Tinubu participated in the APC presidential primary in Lagos and secured the party’s ticket for the 2027 presidential election.
With his return to Abuja, the President is expected to resume official engagements and continue overseeing government activities from the nation’s capital.
