Two Nigerians jailed seven years in Kuwait over armed robbery

A court in Kuwait has sentenced two unnamed Nigerians to seven years’ imprisonment after convicting them of participating in an armed robbery at a money exchange office in Mahboula, in the country’s southern district.

The judgment was delivered on Monday by a court presided over by Counsellor Nasr Salem Al-Haid.

According to court documents filed by the public prosecution, the two men were found guilty of stealing cash and other valuables during the robbery at the exchange office.

The suspects were arrested by the Kuwait General Department of Criminal Investigation in the Ahmadi Governorate following investigations into the incident, which occurred in January 2025.

A video released during the investigation reportedly showed one of the suspects, dressed in a hooded sweatshirt, alighting from a white vehicle before entering the exchange office.

The footage also allegedly captured the suspect pointing a firearm at employees inside the premises during the robbery.

The court subsequently found both men guilty and sentenced each of them to seven years in prison.
