Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has described his recognition at the Vanguard Awards as a renewed call to service rather than a final achievement, pledging to intensify reforms within his ministry.

Tunji-Ojo, who was named Personality of the Year at the ceremony held at Eko Hotels and Suites, said the honour reflects both his team’s efforts and the leadership support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“This award is not just for our performance, but also for Mr President’s leadership, encouragement, and the platform he has provided for us to innovate,” he said.

The minister noted that the recognition would further motivate the Ministry of Interior to deepen ongoing reforms and fully implement the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He emphasised that the award signals the need for greater commitment to service delivery.

“This award is not a destination; it is a work in progress and an invitation to do more. We will continue to ensure that the Renewed Hope Agenda is firmly established in the Ministry of Interior,” he added.

At the same event, former Anambra State governor, Jim Nwobodo, was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award, which he described as both rare and deeply appreciated.

Nwobodo expressed gratitude to the organisers, noting that recognition after public office is uncommon and meaningful.

“You honoured me even out of office, which is rare. I believe that being straightforward, truthful, and committed to doing the right thing ultimately brings reward,” he said.
