Demolition Protest: Police warn Sowore to stay away from Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command has warned activist and politician Omoyele Sowore to stay away from the state over a planned protest against recent demolitions in some parts of Lagos.
Police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the command had received intelligence about the proposed protest and would not allow any gathering that could disrupt public peace.
Hundeyin noted that while citizens have the right to peaceful protest, security agencies will act decisively against any attempt to incite violence or cause unrest.
He advised Sowore and other organizers to explore lawful means of expressing their grievances, emphasizing that the police would ensure safety and order across the state.
The warning comes amid public criticism of the demolition of buildings in areas such as Ajao Estate, Abule Ado, and Ibeju-Lekki, which authorities said were illegal structures built on government land.
