Nnamdi Kanu tells Court to cancel all charges against him
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has filed a new motion at the Federal High Court in Abuja, asking the court to strike out all charges against him.
In the fresh motion, dated October 30, 2025, Kanu said the charges have no legal backing because they were based on laws that no longer exist. He pointed out that the Customs and Excise Management Act and the old Terrorism Prevention Act used in his case had already been repealed by newer laws.
Kanu also argued that the court has no power to try him for offences allegedly committed in Kenya, saying only a Kenyan court can validate such claims before any Nigerian court can handle them.
He said continuing the case violates his constitutional rights since no valid law supports the charges. His lawyers asked the court to hear the motion quickly and deliver a ruling before November 4, 2025.
This latest move is part of Kanu’s ongoing effort to end his trial, which has dragged on since his arrest and extradition from Kenya.
