British-Nigerian boxing star Anthony Joshua was involved in a fatal road accident on Monday in Makun area of Ogun State, which reportedly claimed the lives of two persons.
The incident occurred along a busy stretch of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, a major highway notorious for frequent accidents.
According to reports, the vehicle conveying the former world heavyweight champion — a Lexus SUV with registration number KRD 850 HN — collided with a stationary truck parked along the highway. The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation by relevant authorities.
Sources said Joshua sustained minor injuries and was immediately attended to, while two other occupants or road users reportedly died on the spot as a result of the collision.
Emergency responders and security operatives were said to have arrived at the scene shortly after the crash to evacuate the injured and clear the roadway.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Anthony Joshua nor his management team has issued an official statement, while law enforcement agencies are expected to release further details following preliminary investigations.
The accident adds to growing concerns over road safety along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, where crashes involving heavy-duty trucks have continued to claim lives.
