Dr. Buba Galadima, also known as Baba-Ahmed, has stated that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar would be the best candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 election, but urged him to step aside for the party’s unity.

Baba-Ahmed made the comment on Wednesday during an interview with Arise News, where he said Atiku’s experience and national presence make him a strong contender for the ADC nomination.

However, he added that Atiku should consider withdrawing his interest in the party’s ticket to allow other aspirants a fair chance and to prevent internal conflicts within the party.

Baba-Ahmed’s remarks come amid growing interest in the ADC’s presidential primary, with several politicians reportedly considering running for the party’s nomination.

The ADC has been positioning itself as a viable alternative to the major political parties ahead of the 2027 elections, and Baba-Ahmed said the party needs to manage its internal processes carefully to remain credible.

Atiku, who was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, has not publicly confirmed any formal move to seek the ADC ticket, but he has been linked to discussions around the party’s future direction.

Baba-Ahmed said the ADC must prioritise unity and strategic planning as it prepares for the next election cycle.
