Kwali: PDP Press Secretary Yerima attributes late arrival of election officials to sorting delays, missing ballots recovered

The Press Secretary of the Kwali Media Team for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Comrade Mohammed Musa Yerima, has blamed delays in sorting election materials to the late arrival of officials at polling booths in PAI Ward, Kwali Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to Yerima “When they brought the electoral materials, we were supposed to meet at the RAC centre,” Yerima said.

“It was very unfortunate that during distribution, some ballot papers got mixed up with those for other polling units. With the help of my colleagues from other political parties, we sorted it out. It stemmed from a mix-up by INEC ad hoc staff—which I don’t blame them for, as they’re all human—but thankfully, we resolved it.

“ They were just trying to catch up with the time.” Yerima added

Yerima also addressed reports of 830 missing ballot papers, clarifying that careful sorting led to their recovery. The papers were then handed over to the presiding officers of the affected polling units.

“830 ballot papers—that’s huge; it’s the total voter registration for an entire unit,” he explained. “That was indeed what was missing, but like I said, with the help of my colleagues, we traced it diplomatically and recovered it.”

Ad hoc staff were observed attending to voters who turned out to cast their ballots.

This election serves as a litmus test for the new INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan SAN, as preparations for the 2027 general elections are already underway
