ADC denies talks with PRP ahead of leadership court judgment

The African Democratic Congress has denied reports claiming it is in talks with the Peoples Redemption Party ahead of an expected court judgment on its leadership dispute.

In a statement posted on X on Monday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, described the report as false and misleading.

According to him, the coalition leadership of the party is not engaged in any form of discussion with any other political party at the moment.

He said the ADC remains focused on challenging what it described as illegal actions taken against its leadership by Independent National Electoral Commission and agents of the ruling party.

Abdullahi stated that seeking legal redress is necessary to protect the rule of law and ensure the survival of multiparty democracy in Nigeria.

He added that while the party remains open to expanding opposition collaboration and bringing more groups together, it is not considering abandoning its platform.

The ADC spokesperson therefore urged the public to disregard speculations suggesting the party plans to exit or merge with another political platform.

He also expressed confidence in the judiciary, saying the party believes the courts will uphold justice despite alleged pressure on democratic institutions.
