Police in London have launched a manhunt for 25-year-old prisoner Temitope Segun after he escaped from custodial transport in the Plumstead area of South East London.

Segun was last seen near Woolwich High Street at about 6:40 p.m. on Monday, June 8, according to authorities.

He is believed to have links across several South East London communities, including Plumstead, Abbey Wood and Woolwich, areas where police say he may attempt to seek refuge.

At the time of his escape, he was reportedly wearing a black jacket, black trousers and black trainers.

Law enforcement authorities have warned members of the public not to approach him if spotted, urging immediate contact with emergency services instead.

Detective Sergeant Claudine Manning, who is leading the investigation, said officers were working round the clock to locate and arrest the fugitive.

“My team of dedicated officers are working around the clock to trace and apprehend Temitope Segun. It is imperative that the public contact police via 999 if they see him – or know where he may be,” she said.

She added that the suspect has established links across South London, which may assist ongoing search efforts.

Police have urged anyone with useful information to call 999, quoting reference number 2270/10JUN, or provide anonymous tips through Crimestoppers.

The search operation continues as authorities intensify efforts to prevent further evasion and ensure his recapture.
