APC Mega Rally: Shettima, Akpabio storm Ekiti for Oyebanji
Vice President Kashim Shettima has rallied support for the re-election of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, urging residents of the state to vote massively for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Saturday’s governorship election.
Shettima made the appeal on Monday at the APC Grand Finale Mega Rally held in Ado-Ekiti, where thousands of party supporters gathered to show solidarity ahead of the poll.
Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Vice President described the Oyebanji–Monisade Afuye ticket as a representation of stability, continuity and sustained development, stressing that Ekiti must not disrupt its current progress.
According to him, the election is not just a routine democratic exercise but an opportunity for the people to consolidate existing achievements under the current administration.
“Continuity in Ekiti is not a favour to one man. It is an investment in the peace, progress and future of this state,” Shettima said.
He urged voters to mobilise at the grassroots level and ensure a large turnout on election day, calling on citizens to support the APC candidates across all levels.
Shettima also commended Governor Oyebanji’s leadership style, describing him as a humble, focused and development-driven administrator who has prioritised governance over politics.
He said the governor had demonstrated commitment to public service and had governed with patience, inclusiveness and responsiveness to the needs of Ekiti people.
The Vice President further noted that the APC remains united and stronger than opposition parties, attributing the party’s stability to discipline and purposeful leadership.
He assured that the Federal Government would continue to collaborate with the Ekiti State Government to deepen development, improve security and expand economic opportunities for citizens.
Also speaking at the rally, Senate President Godswill Akpabio described Governor Oyebanji as one of the most people-oriented governors in the country, saying his performance in office justified a second term.
APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, also praised the governor’s achievements in infrastructure, education and healthcare, describing his administration as a reflection of progressive governance.
In his remarks, Governor Oyebanji expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for their support, while thanking the people of Ekiti for their confidence in his administration.
He called for peaceful participation in Saturday’s election, urging voters to come out and support the APC.
Earlier, Shettima paid a courtesy visit to the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Adeyemo Adejugbe, where he commended traditional rulers for their role in maintaining peace and preserving cultural values.
The Vice President also met with members of the Ekiti State Traditional Rulers Council, assuring them of the Federal Government’s continued support for the traditional institution.
