Gov Aiyedatiwa sworn in , says challenges ahead surmountable

During the ceremony, both Governor Aiyedatiwa and his Deputy, Olayide Adelami, were officially sworn in by the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola. The event was graced by several high-profile figures including the National Chairperson of the APC, Abdulahi Ganduje; Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; former APC Chairman Bisi Akande; and ex-Governor of Ogun State, Olusegun Osoba.
Also in attendance were Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister for Youth Olawande Ayodele, and former Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko, among other distinguished guests.
Elected on the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket in the 16 November 2024 governorship contest, Mr Aiyedatiwa used his inaugural address to pay homage to previous state leaders for laying the vital groundwork on which successive administrations have built. He highlighted that, over the past 14 months, his government had succeeded in restoring public confidence in governance.
Addressing the political divisions that arose in the wake of the illness and subsequent passing of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, he maintained that his unwavering dedication to the development and welfare of the people had never faltered. He also extended his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his support, leadership, and consistent commitment to forging a reformed Nigeria.
Looking to the future, the governor outlined his administration’s priorities. Foremost among these is the assurance of safety for both life and property, alongside an ambitious drive to create new employment opportunities. He also announced plans to invest in technology and innovation to open up prospects for the unemployed youth, as well as to establish technical schools across the state’s senatorial districts.
Governor Aiyedatiwa concluded by reflecting on the progress already made in his cherished Sunshine State. He noted that significant advancements in infrastructure, social amenities, and public facilities have been achieved, while the well-being of the citizenry has remained at the forefront of government efforts. His administration’s endeavours have also produced positive outcomes in agriculture, healthcare, revenue generation, urban regeneration, rural road construction, education, employment, investment promotion, and entrepreneurship.
