Parents of kidnapped JOSTUM students plead for help

One of the parents of the four female abducted students of Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM), has stated that the abductors have not made any contact with the family.
The mother of one the students who spoke in anonymity to our Correspondent, expressed worry over the whereabout of her daughter and that of the other girls.
The Vice Chancellor of JOSTUM, Professor Isaac Itodo had confirmed the abduction in an official statement and gave an assurance that security agencies had been notified and were actively working to secure the students’ release.
Following the incident, the university management ordered all students to vacate the campus immediately as a precautionary measure.
Meanwhile, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Sewuese Anene stated that security forces have been deployed to the area, and an investigation was ongoing to track down the perpetrators.
Unidentified gunmen on Tuesday night abducted students from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM), sparking fear and heightened security concerns on campus.
Initial reports indicated that four female students were taken, but Benue State Police Command later confirmed that two students were kidnapped.
This latest incident has raised concerns over the rising cases of student abductions in Nigeria, putting pressure on authorities to enhance security measures around educational institutions.
