Nigeria, Bangladesh explore opportunities for deeper economic partnership

The High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Nigeria, Masudur Rahman, has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening economic relations with Nigeria.
Speaking while receiving a delegation from the Diplomatic Correspondents Association of Nigeria (DICAN), Rahman emphasized the potential for increased trade and investment between the two nations. He highlighted Bangladesh’s thriving textile and garment industry, noting that its products are exported globally. The envoy urged Nigerian businesses to explore opportunities in the Bangladeshi market.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of DICAN, Chief Fredrick Idehai, underscored the association’s role as Nigeria’s only government-recognized body for diplomatic reporting. He sought the High Commission’s support for the upcoming maiden edition of the DICAN International Security Conference.
In response, Rahman assured DICAN of Bangladesh’s readiness to collaborate for the success of the event, scheduled for June 19, 2025.
As Nigeria looks to diversify its economy, the question remains—will these diplomatic engagements translate into tangible economic benefits for both nations?
