Ajisafe, Muyiwa re-elected as Southwest Zonal PDP Chair, Secretary
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southwest zone has re-elected Hon. Kamorudeen Ajisafe and Obagunwa Muyiwa as Zonal Chairman and Secretary, respectively, in a peaceful and well-attended congress held on Wednesday in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Ajisafe emerged victorious with 661 votes, returning alongside other incumbent executives during the 2025 Southwest elective zonal congress at Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall. The event saw elections into 22 positions, according to the Oyo State PDP Public Relations Officer, Michael Ogunsina.
Newly elected zonal officers include:
Adeyemo Adetunji – Zonal Treasurer
Yaya Adeleke – Zonal Financial Secretary
Atofarati Olusanya – Zonal Publicity Secretary
Bosede Adedibu – Zonal Women Leader
The congress was supervised by former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, who chaired the electoral committee. Officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) also monitored the process.
Prominent PDP leaders graced the event. Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, led 249 delegates from his state, casting their votes at about 12:30 PM. He was joined by Osun State Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke, and Ogun PDP chieftain and 2023 governorship candidate Ladi Adebutu, who led their respective state delegations.
Other party stalwarts in attendance included Chief Olabode George from Lagos and current National Deputy Chairman (South), Alhaji Taofeek Arapaja.
