PDP Reps minority leader Kingsley Chinda appears before APC governorship screening committee
The Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Kingsley Chinda, has appeared before the governorship screening committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress ahead of the party’s primaries.
Chinda, who was elected into the House of Representatives on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, was reportedly screened after allegedly defecting quietly to the APC a few days ago.
The lawmaker is believed to be one of the political allies of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, seeking the APC governorship ticket.
Another Wike ally said to have purchased the nomination forms is Dax Kelly.
According to reports, other aspirants who have also obtained the APC governorship forms include Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara and former governorship candidate Tonye Cole.
Chinda’s appearance before the screening panel has further fuelled speculation over shifting political alliances in Rivers State ahead of the next governorship election.
