Police condemn Officers caught receiving ₦5,000 from Chinese National in viral video
The Nigeria Police Force has strongly condemned the actions of some officers caught in a viral video receiving ₦5,000 from a Chinese national, describing their behaviour as unprofessional and unethical.
The incident, which triggered public outrage after surfacing on social media, drew immediate attention from the police hierarchy.
In a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Police expressed deep concern over the viral footage, saying the conduct of the officers involved does not reflect the core values and ethical standards expected of members of the Force.
“The Force has zero tolerance for such unprofessional behavior and other forms of misconduct, which undermine public trust and confidence,” the statement read.
According to the Police, the officers involved in the incident have been identified and are currently undergoing disciplinary action. The move is part of ongoing efforts to ensure accountability and restore public confidence in the Nigerian Police Force.
The Force also used the opportunity to caution individuals and organizations that engage police officers for escort and guard duties. They warned against acts that may compromise the officers’ integrity or tarnish the image of the institution.
Reaffirming its commitment to professionalism, transparency, and discipline, the Police emphasized that all forms of misconduct will be addressed decisively to uphold the dignity of the Force and maintain trust with the public.
