Niger State launches Ward Development Project with grassroots sensitisation drive
The Niger State Steering Committee on Awareness and Sensitisation has commenced its state-wide campaign for the Ward Development Project, beginning with a tour in Suleja Local Government Area.
Led by the Commissioner for Rural Development, Honourable Phalal Bako Mohammed, the committee proceeded to Lapai and Agaie, where it engaged with local stakeholders and residents to discuss the project’s objectives, structure, and operational strategies.
During the sessions, communities were encouraged to adopt a sense of ownership and responsibility for maintaining and protecting the projects situated within their areas. The commissioner outlined that the initiative aims to establish the government’s presence in every ward through essential and impactful projects designed to alleviate challenges and promote development at the grassroots level.
Honourable Mohammed highlighted the crucial role of community participation in advancing local initiatives, stating, “The success of this project relies on active community involvement and equipping citizens with the necessary knowledge to protect and support these efforts.”
The awareness tour is set to continue across the state’s Emirates, with forthcoming visits to Borgu, Kagara, Kontagora, and Minna in the following days.
