Breaking: Dikko tanker explosion leaves many injured, scores feared dead (Video)

Tragedy struck on Saturday morning around Dikko junction in Gurara Local Government Area in Niger state, off the Abuja/Kaduna Highway spilling it’s content.
Eye witness said some persons who attempted to scoop petrol from the fallen tanker, including a pregnant woman and another carrying a one week old baby were burnt to death in the incident.
Another eye witness who is in the vehicle on his way to Minna,said over 30 people lost their lives as a result of the petrol tanker explosion.

It was learnt that officials of the Niger state Fire service however responded swiftly, trying to put out the fire, but the number of casualty is however unknown at the time of this report.
Reports have it that members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) around the Dikko junction were part of the rescue team at the scene of the accident.

One eyewitness stated, “I saw the bodies of the victims, but I cannot confirm the exact number of fatalities. Among the deceased were a pregnant woman and some children.”
