ADA, Seven other Associations fulfil INEC’s registration conditions
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that eight of the fourteen associations that pre-qualified to register as political parties have completed uploading all required documents and information.
Last month, the commission disclosed that out of 171 associations that applied for registration, only fourteen met the basic requirements to move to the next stage, while 157 failed to meet the necessary criteria.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, said the next phase involves a detailed verification and assessment of the information and documents submitted by each association. He noted that this step will ensure compliance with the 1999 Constitution, the Electoral Act 2022, and INEC’s 2022 regulations and guidelines for political parties.
“As of Saturday, October 19, 2025, eight out of the fourteen pre-qualified associations successfully completed the upload of all necessary information and documentation,” the statement read.
The eight associations include the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), Citizens Democratic Alliance (CDA), Abundance Social Party (ASP), African Alliance Party (AAP), Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), Green Future Party (GFP), National Democratic Party (NDP), and Peoples Freedom Party (PFP).
Olumekun emphasized that INEC remains committed to inclusivity, transparency, and strengthening Nigeria’s democratic culture.
Meanwhile, the All Democratic Alliance (ADA) had earlier been rumored to be the proposed opposition party expected to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections before the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was later adopted.
