Again, Fire razes popular Oba Market in Benin
The popular Oba Market, located at the heart of Ring Road in Benin City, Edo State, has been gutted by fire once again.
The latest incident, which occurred on Wednesday night, saw a section of the market completely destroyed by the mysterious blaze.
As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire remains unknown.
The market, which was previously razed during the tenure of former Governor Godwin Obaseki, is currently undergoing reconstruction under the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Oredo Local Government Council, Hon. Gabriel Iduseri, visited the scene in the early hours of Thursday to assess the level of damage.
During the visit, Iduseri sympathized with the affected traders and assured them that the council would not abandon them in their time of loss.
