AMAC Polls: APC dismisses rumours of Automatic Ticket for Makalangu, others

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) has dismissed speculations suggesting that the party intends to hand an automatic ticket to incumbent AMAC chairman, Hon. Christopher Makalangu, ahead of the 2026 council election.
Party chairman, Alhaji Murthar Abubakar, speaking through the AMAC APC Vice Chairman, Saidu Yaro Karishi, at the unveiling of Hon. Yunusa Dantani Sarki in Karimo over the weekend, made it clear that no aspirant would be granted a free pass to the party’s ticket.
Karishi stressed that all aspirants, including recent defectors like Makalangu, must participate in the scheduled June 21st party primary to test their popularity.
“Let me use this opportunity to clear the air — there’s no automatic ticket for anybody for AMAC 2026 elections. Every aspirant will go through the primary process,” he stated.
Hon. Yunusa Dantani Sarki, while unveiling his campaign agenda, vowed to transform the council’s fortunes and bridge the divide between indigenes and non-indigenes. He also dismissed fears over Makalangu’s defection to APC, expressing confidence in clinching the party’s ticket.
“President Goodluck Jonathan was an incumbent and he was defeated by Muhammadu Buhari in 2015. The people will decide. Makalangu must go,” Sarki declared.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the Yunusa Dantani Sarki Foundation, Chief Okoh Sunday, pledged to rally voters and resources behind Hon. Sarki’s ambition, describing him as the right man with the needed experience to lead the council.
