Borno Police recover Woman’s N23.6m Gold hidden during Boko Haram attack 15 Years ago
The Borno State Police Command has helped a woman in the Mallam Fatori area recover gold valued at N23.6 million, 15 years after she buried it in the sand while fleeing a Boko Haram attack.
The confirmation was contained in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, who noted that the woman, whose identity was withheld for security reasons, recently returned to the community and sought police assistance to locate the gold she had hidden during the insurgents’ assault.
According to Daso, the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, applauded the Divisional Police Officer of Mallam Fatori and his team for the professionalism and integrity they displayed throughout the recovery process.
He explained that the officers were able to retrieve 22 carats of gold estimated at N20 million, in addition to a gold bracelet with a chain valued at N3.6 million, after what he described as diligent and well-coordinated operational efforts.
Daso added that CP Abdulmajid reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to continue supporting and cooperating with security agencies to boost safety across the state.
