The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) at Polling Unit 076, Sani Abacha Estate, Wuse Zone 4, in the ongoing Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The polling unit, where the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship candidate, Dr. Moses Paul, cast his vote, recorded generally low voter turnout.

Out of the 10 votes cast at the unit, the ADC polled seven votes to secure victory, while the APC garnered two votes. One ballot was rejected.

Despite the limited participation, the result marks a win for the opposition party at the polling station.

Earlier, Dr. Paul alleged intimidation of his party’s agents in parts of the council and attributed the low turnout to the movement restriction announced by the Minister of the FCT. He described the situation as unusual, stating that in his about 40 years of living in AMAC, he had never witnessed such a development, likening it to “a state of emergency.”

While commending electoral officials at his polling unit for professionalism and adherence to due process, he claimed that ADC agents in Takum Shara and parts of Kabusa ward, including Dogongada and Shereti, were allegedly threatened and intimidated.

According to him, some agents were reportedly warned of possible harm, actions he said were aimed at suppressing voters and influencing the process in favour of the ruling party.

He also alleged incidents of vote buying in parts of the capital city, stressing that such acts are criminal.

Despite the concerns raised, the AMAC chairmanship candidate expressed confidence in his chances, saying the will of the people would prevail. He urged residents to resist intimidation and continue to demand accountable leadership.
