Burna Boy mocks DJ Tunez after Lagos altercation as DJs announce music ban

Grammy-winning Nigerian star Burna Boy has stirred controversy after mocking disc jockey DJ Tunez following a physical altercation between the two at Obi’s House, a popular Afrobeats event in Lagos.

The clash, which occurred on Monday, has sparked widespread speculation, with some linking it to longstanding industry tensions, particularly DJ Tunez’s close association with Wizkid. Eyewitness reports circulating on social media alleged that members of Burna Boy’s entourage were involved before the situation was eventually brought under control.

The situation escalated online when DJ Tunez, also known as Ogbafia, appeared to take a swipe at Burna Boy, describing him as a “coward” and referencing his 2025 album No Sign of Weakness with the remark “All Signs of Weakness.”

In response, Burna Boy posted a mocking video of himself dancing to his track “Money Constant,” altering a lyric from “Ogbafia dey my side” to “Ogbafia dey for ground,” before dramatically falling — a move widely interpreted as a jab at the DJ.

The fallout intensified on Tuesday as the Nigerian DJ Association announced a temporary ban on Burna Boy’s music across DJs’ playlists nationwide.

“Burna Boy music is temporarily out of any of our DJs’ playlists till further notice,” the association said in a statement, adding that it would conduct a thorough investigation into the incident involving DJ Tunez.

The development has sent ripples across the entertainment industry, raising questions about artist-DJ relations and the potential impact of the ban on Burna Boy’s airplay and public engagements.
